Yongtek Code Reader Obd 2

Yongtek Code Reader Obd 2
This little bluetooth OBD2 adaptor has worked flawlessly on every car I've tried: Toyota Prius and Highlander, Subaru Forester, Ford Escape.

Admittedly I primarily use it for fun, just to know my instantaneous fuel economy, etc. However, it saved me a ton of money one time when I ran out of engine coolant and a bunch of warning lights came on in the dash.

After filling the coolant, the lights stayed on so I didn't know if something else was wrong. After scanning the codes, I found that they were left over from the original over heating. Sure enough, they eventually went away on their own and I didn't have to go by a mechanic.

My only concern is that a little red light stays on even when the car is turned off. Since it has no battery, it must be using a bit of power from my car battery. Most likely it is minimal, but I'm hesitant to leave my adaptor plugged in at all times. I've left it in for a week or so at a time, but I haven't seen what happens if it is left in and I don't use the car at all for prolonged periods.

If only to ease my mind, I'd prefer it to turn off when the car does (there isn't a switch either). I'm considering adding my own...

Bottom line, for a very low price you can get a fun and useful product that will do everything a much more expensive one will do. At such a low price, its worth having just to know more about your car.
